Effective June 18, 2022, the Citrus County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller will be launching a new public records request software, improving access to public records. Requestors of public information will now have the option of submitting public records requests through an online form. While other methods for submitting requests are still available, the Clerk’s office is excited to be able to offer a more convenient option.
“We chose JustFOIA to help streamline the open records request process for citizens and improve efficiencies within our office. By implementing this solution, citizens will be able to track the progress of their public records request 24/7, and have access to their requested documents for 3 years,” chief of staff Traci Phillips commented. “Over the next month, our staff will be parallel testing the software and will notify requestors that they may receive emails from us via JustFOIA.”
Non-court records can be submitted anonymously through the online form, pursuant to Chapter 119. Court records requests are not permitted to be anonymous. The Florida Rules of Judicial Administration 2.420(m) dictate that a “request for access to judicial branch records must be in writing and be directed to the records custodian (the Clerk’s office). The request shall provide sufficient specificity to enable the custodian to identify the requested records.”
“JustFOIA is ecstatic to work with the Citrus County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, and empower them to implement a solution to this often challenging process. We are fanatical about our clients’ success. It’s impressive to see the impact that JustFOIA makes on their staff and the citizens they serve,” said Donny Barstow, President & CEO.
