INVERNESS, FL. –Need a passport? We are holding a 3-day passport event to help families juggling hectic work and school schedules by providing extended office hours to process passport applications until 6:30pm Monday, September 20th – Wednesday, September 22nd. Passport photos are FREE OF CHARGE on these days only.
If your future travel plans require a passport, make sure you allow plenty of time to complete the application process. The U.S. Department of State recently warned that mail delays are significantly impacting processing times for passport applications. Routine service can take up to 18 weeks from the day you submit your application. Expedited service can take up to 12 weeks.
Come visit us at the Clerk Annex, located at 120 N. Montgomery Avenue, Inverness or our Meadowcrest Customer Service location at the West Citrus Government Center 1540 N. Meadowcrest Boulevard in Crystal River.
While you can still apply in person for a U.S. passport and renew through the mail, the Department of State’s application processing, receipt of your passport, and return of citizenship evidence documents is significantly delayed beyond the normal turnaround time of 6-8 weeks for routine service. Scheduling appointments for passport services with our office are available on our website www.citrusclerk.org, or by calling us directly at (352) 341-6424, option 2. A Deputy Clerk will contact you prior to your appointment to review the application process, including required citizenship documentation and the forms to complete on line before coming into our office. Photos will be taken, while maintaining physical distancing (6-10ft) as required by the CDC. If your family has more than 5 members, additional considerations will have to be made in scheduling your appointment to comply with CDC regulations.
